FameLab International Science Communication Competition

What is FameLab?

FameLab is an international science communication competition that challenges contestants between the ages of 21 and 35 to present a scientific concept/topic of their choice to the general public with clarity and charisma. Contestants have only three minutes to present their concept/topic, without slides and with only the props they are able to carry onto stage.

Celebrate the month of STEM

August 2018 - The Month of Stem

We will be celebrating the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) day for the whole month of August. The ministry of Tertiary Education,Research Science and Technology through the department of Research Science and Technology will be hosting STEM events and inviting other stakeholders on board to be part of the activities.




The Botswana International University of Science and Technology through the Organising committee of STEM Festival 2018 will once again will be hosting the annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Festival scheduled for April 17th to 19th, 2018 at BIUST Campus in Palapye, Botswana.

Ethnic Astronomy 29.11.2018

Prof There Medupe will be giving a public lecture on Ethnic Astronomy on the 29th of November 2018.

Ethnoastronomy is the branch of astronomy that involves learning about the astronomical system of non-Western people (Farrer, 1993). It is concerned on knowing how different ethnic groups on Earth see the heavens and how they use it for their contemporary daily lives.
